Frequently Asked Questions

Tristan x Glory

This very long anticipated litter (see the pedigree) was born on December 13, 2006.  We were blessed with five puppies; three boys and two girls.  This very special breeding is the result of frozen artificial insemination.  You can read about this journey at Glory's Pregnancy Diary.  This cross is a loose linebreeding that brings in genetics from several of this country's finest breeders.  With a relatively low inbreeding coefficient of 17.6%, it still manages to pull forward the superb Twinley King Sesostris and Beltara's Pantooset Oberon into genetic prominence, directly behind the parents in weighting.  We are very excited to see how these beautiful babies will mature.

The puppies have all been placed and are settling into their new homes.  I'm so lucky to have found absolutely wonderful homes for the babies.  In birth order:

●  DC Naha Quintessential Blond, SC, HIC, NW1 - Orange boy is staying at my house.  He'll have great fun wrestling with his Mom and Aunt Serra.  We'll call him Rooney after the English soccer player, Wayne Rooney (we're all big EPL soccer fans here).

●  Naha Gentlemen Prefer Blondes - Purple boy's name will be Rouge.  Rouge joins a Beagle brother in BC, Canada.  He's living the happy life of a farm dog!

●  DC Naha Galadrial's Natural Blonde, SC, AX, MXJ, RA, VCX - Pink girl's new name is Tru.  She is going to be one busy girl - conformation, agility, and lure coursing!  Tru will be living in Memphis, TN with a good friend of mine and several new PH buddies.  Tru has her own web page!!

●  Multi-BIF FC Naha Zahi Of The Blonde Sands, SC, LCX - Yellow girl is going to live in Colorado where she'll be named Zahi.  She'll have a Miniature Pinscher older brother and will learn how to live with cats!

●  Multi-BIF DC UKC Ch Naha Atomic Blond Revival, SC, RN, FCh, CGC, HIC, VC - It was hard to let Green boy go because he looks so much like his Daddy.  But he's going to a great home in Colorado where he'll have a Weimeraner brother and several new cats to taunt.  His new name is Kaba.

Eight Weeks old

Such excitement this week.  First was a visit to the vet for general check-ups and microchips (ouch!).  Then, at the end of the week, it was time to make decisions and the puppies to join their new families.  We're very happy and lucky to have wonderful puppy homes, yet also quite sad as these little cuties leave us.  Happily, we're keeping a boy, so we won't have a completely empty nest and Glory doesn't have to lose all of her children!

Seven Weeks Old

New milestones this week!  The puppies went for their temperament evaluation on their 7-wee-old birthday at the facility of my trainer, Kathy Lang (www.familydogonline.com).  There is no pass/fail for this type of test but I was thrilled that the puppies handled all the new experiences (first car ride, first new building, and the strangers conducting the test) so well and seemed to enjoy themselves.

The puppy evaluation photos are very small and grainy - I did a capture of videotape.  This shows the puppy chasing a toy on a rope.

Here, the puppy is investigating an umbrella that was just opened in front of him.

Another great friendly stranger!  Sarah drove up from southern WA to play with the puppies.  Thanks, Sarah!

Six weeks old

Lots of excitement this week;  Weaning continues, a couple visitors, and the weather is FINALLY warm

enough (barely) for some romps outside.

¹ Click the movie camera to see a short video of the little darlings wrestling.  Notice Glory leaping away as the puppies consider nursing.  Now that they're getting three meals a day from me plus those needle sharp puppy teeth are in, Glory only nurses them when her mammaries are full.  I think weaning is almost harder on the mother than the puppies!

Friend Tabitha from Portland made a long drive north to visit the puppies. . .

. . . they thought she was just swell!

Hi Mom.  Wouldn't you like to share that treat???

The puppies have a fine time romping with Mike.

Thirty-two days old

We had the great pleasure of a visit from a future puppy family, today.  The puppies had a great time playing with them and giving them a small taste of life with a Pharaoh Hound puppy . . . busy, busy, busy!

What's up here??

Twenty-five days old

Our neighbors have wanted to see the puppies, so they came over today with their son.  This was the puppies' first time meeting friendly strangers.  All five of them did great and thought it was a wonderful treat to play with new people.  Glory was great and had no problem with us passing around the puppies.  It was a good visit and a good introduction to non-family members.

Twenty-three Days Old - First Meals

For the first several days of eating real food, I hand feed so I can make sure they are swallowing okay.  Here are the two girls chowing down!

Happy New Year!  Nineteen Days Old

We celebrated New Year's Day quietly at home.  Now that the puppies' eyes and ears are open, each of us makes sure to take each puppy out of the box for some on-on-one time.
