Pharaoh Hound Herding Day!

July 31, 2004

Though many of us don't think about it, herding has been one of the traditional jobs for Pharaoh Hounds on their island homes, especially the island of Gozo in the Mediterranean.  Just for the fun of it, several Pacific Northwest Pharaoh owners gathered on a warm July afternoon to see what our hounds would do when faced with a flock of sheep.  The results were amazing!

Serra's good turning instinct was praised by the trainer.

Another stray.

They even let 14 week old Glory give it a try.  As usual, Glory was fearless!

Go Glory!

Glory felt so tough when these big animals ran away from her!

Tristan's son, Tolly, did a great job, too!

Tristan's daughter, Nadia, was surprisingly adept at this herding game.
